1. Controller

The controller responsible for data processing on this website within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

Moritz Kost
Hagenauweg 17
44339 Dortmund
Deutschland
Email: kontakt@checkinputs.com

No data protection officer has been appointed, as there is no legal obligation to do so.

2. Summary

  • The device tests process camera images, microphone audio and input exclusively locally in your browser. None of it is transmitted to us or third parties.
  • There are no user accounts, forms or newsletters.
  • To fund the site we show ads from Google AdSense. Advertising cookies are only set with your consent, which you can change at any time via “Privacy settings” in the footer.
  • For anonymous visitor statistics we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, without cookies and without recognizing individual visitors.

3. Device tests (camera, microphone, input devices)

For the mic and webcam tests, your browser asks for your permission first. Only after you allow it does the script on this page get access to the audio or video stream. All analysis (level, resolution, frame rate) happens entirely on your device. Test recordings and photos only exist in your browser's memory or are saved directly to your device at your request. They are never uploaded.

Keyboard, mouse and controller input as well as screen data (resolution, refresh rate) are also only displayed locally and discarded when you close the page.

Since no personal data is transmitted to us, we do not process any such data. You can revoke browser permissions at any time in your browser settings.

4. Hosting and server logs

This website is served via Cloudflare Workers, provided by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (“Cloudflare”). Cloudflare runs a global content delivery network that delivers the website and protects it from attacks.

When you visit the website, technically necessary data that your browser sends automatically is processed:

  • IP address
  • date and time of the request
  • requested page or file
  • referrer URL
  • browser type, operating system and language

The purpose is to deliver the website and ensure its stability and security, in particular to fend off denial-of-service attacks and abusive access. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the secure and fast delivery of the website. This data is not combined with other data sources or used for advertising.

We have a data processing agreement with Cloudflare pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR (Cloudflare Data Processing Addendum). Data may be transferred to the USA. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, so an adequacy decision of the European Commission applies (Art. 45 GDPR). Cloudflare has additionally signed the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Cloudflare only stores this data as long as necessary for these purposes. To fend off automated attacks, Cloudflare may in individual cases set strictly necessary security cookies, which is permitted without consent under § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG. More information: Cloudflare privacy policy.

5. Visitor statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)

To understand which pages are used and to improve the website, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics (provider: see “Hosting”). A small Cloudflare script is loaded with each page view and records the page visited, referrer URL, browser and device type, the country derived from the IP address and page load times.

Cloudflare Web Analytics sets no cookies and uses no local browser storage or fingerprinting. Individual visitors are not recognized or tracked across websites. We only receive aggregated statistics, never data about individuals.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the statistical analysis and improvement of our website. Since no information is stored on or read from your device, no consent under § 25 TDDDG is required. You can object at any time (see “Your rights”), e.g. by blocking the script from static.cloudflareinsights.com with a content blocker. For transfers to the USA, see “Hosting”.

6. Cookies and consent

This website itself sets no cookies. Cookies and similar technologies are only used by Google in connection with advertising, and only to the extent you have consented via the consent banner (see next section). Your consent choice itself is stored in a strictly necessary cookie (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG) so the banner doesn't reappear on every page.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the “Privacy settings” link in the footer.

7. Contact by email

If you contact us by email, we process your email address, your name (if provided) and the content of your message in order to respond. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest being to answer your request, or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your request relates to a contract. We delete your request once it has been fully handled, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

Emails to addresses on our domain are forwarded to our mailbox via Cloudflare Email Routing (provider: see “Hosting”). Cloudflare does not store the messages permanently.

8. Links to other websites

This website contains links to external websites. Only when you click a link are you redirected to that website, whose provider is responsible for any data processing there.

9. Advertising (Google AdSense) and consent banner

To fund this free website we display ads via Google AdSense, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”).

Consent banner: on your first visit, a banner from Google's consent platform (Google Privacy & Messaging, certified under the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework) asks whether and for what purposes cookies and similar technologies may be used. To show it, a Google script is loaded and your IP address is transmitted to Google. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(c) in conjunction with Art. 7(1) GDPR (proof of consent) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Ads: depending on your choice, Google shows personalized ads (based on your interests and previous visits) or non-personalized/limited ads (based only on approximate location and page content). Google processes, among other things, your IP address, device and browser information, cookie IDs and information about pages visited and ad interactions. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). If you decline, Google sets no advertising cookies.

Google partly processes data as an independent controller and may transfer it to the USA; Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR). Cookies are stored for up to 13 months depending on the cookie.

Withdrawal: you can withdraw or change your consent at any time with effect for the future via “Privacy settings” in the footer. You can also turn off personalized ads at adssettings.google.com.

10. SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the lock icon and “https://” in your browser's address bar.

11. No obligation to provide data, no automated decisions

You are not legally or contractually obliged to provide us with personal data. Without the technically necessary connection data, however, the website cannot be delivered. No automated decision-making or profiling (Art. 22 GDPR) takes place.

12. Your rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20), and to withdraw any consent with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)).

Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): where we process data based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.

An informal message to the email address above is sufficient to exercise your rights.

Right to lodge a complaint: you may complain to a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the member state of your residence, workplace or the place of the alleged infringement. The authority responsible for us is: Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen.

13. Changes to this privacy policy

We update this privacy policy whenever the website or the legal situation changes. The version published here always applies.
