Frequently asked questions

Who is behind this site?
A small independent project that aims to offer fast, private and free device tests. The site is funded by ads and affiliate links.
Do I need an account?
No. All tests work without sign-up or installation.
Why does my browser ask for permission?
For security, every browser requires your explicit approval before a site can use your camera or microphone. You can revoke it any time in your browser settings.
How can I test my mic without installing anything?
Open this page, click “Test my mic” and allow access. The test runs entirely in your browser, with no download and no sign-up.
Why doesn't the meter move?
Usually the wrong device is selected, the browser has no permission, or the headset is muted by a hardware switch. See the step-by-step fixes above.
How do I test my webcam online?
Click “Test my webcam” and allow camera access. You'll immediately see your image plus resolution and frame rate, with no software install.
Why is my webcam blurry?
Common reasons are poor lighting, a dirty lens, low resolution or an app compressing the image. Use “Test max resolution” to see what your camera can really do.
How do I check whether all my keys work?
Open the keyboard test and press every key once. Working keys turn green. If a key stays gray, it isn't being detected.
What is keyboard ghosting?
Ghosting means some keys aren't detected when several are pressed at once. “Max. simultaneous” shows how many keys your keyboard can handle together.
How do I know if my mouse is double clicking?
Click the test area several times, one click at a time. If two clicks are registered very close together (under about 80 ms), the test shows “Unwanted double click detected”.
Can a double-clicking mouse be fixed?
Often yes: compressed air, a higher debounce time in the manufacturer's software or replacing the micro switch. Under warranty, an exchange is worth it.
How do I test my PS5 or Xbox controller on PC?
Connect it via USB or Bluetooth, open the controller test and press a button. You'll then see all buttons, triggers and sticks live.
How can I tell if my controller has stick drift?
Let go of the sticks. If the blue dot isn't centered (values clearly above ±0.1) or moves on its own, the stick is drifting.
How do I find out my monitor's refresh rate?
Open the monitor test: the measured refresh rate appears after about two seconds and matches the currently configured rate.
Why does the test show 60 Hz on my 144 Hz monitor?
Usually 60 Hz is still set in Windows or macOS, the cable doesn't support the rate, or the monitor is plugged into the motherboard instead of the graphics card.
